The challenge
Northgate processes 9,000 samples a day. Replacing its analyzer line could not interrupt a single run.
What we did
We installed the new line alongside the old one, ran parallel validation and moved assays across one panel at a time.
The result
Every assay moved without downtime, with IQ, OQ and PQ documentation filed for the next accreditation visit.
Scope delivered
Six chemistry and immunoassay analyzers, middleware, LIS interfaces, two centrifuges and temperature-mapped reagent storage, with full IQ, OQ and PQ documentation.
What changed for staff
Laboratory scientists validated new methods during normal working hours instead of overnight, because the old and new lines ran side by side throughout the transition.
What’s next
Northgate is now standardizing its satellite laboratories on the same platforms, using the validation packs from the main site as a template.
The validation packs were ready before the analyzers were. That is the first time that has happened to us.
